Designed for Demanding Environments

PALMDALE, CALIFORNIA USA -- Delivering extended range and rugged performance in a small package, SpaceAge Control is shipping the Series C line of miniature position transducers for demanding industrial control and factory automation environments. The products deliver high-reliability displacement measurement of up to 85 inches (2.16 m) in a 3.5-inch by 3.5-inch by 3.8-inch (89-mm by 89-mm by 97-mm) package. Typical applications include hydraulic cylinder feedback, injection molding machine control, heavy equipment component location, and forklift height monitoring.

Developed as a space-saving alternative to rod-type devices such as LVDTs, magnetostrictive devices, and linear potentiometers, the flexible and easy-to-install products use a stainless steel cable wound around a spring-powered precision-machined drum. The bearing-mounted drum is mated to a sensor assembly that translates linear position information to an electrical signal. Key features and benefits include:

  • DirectConnectTM technology eliminates backlash that results with clutched and geared designs
  • AccuTrakTM threaded drum ensures repeatability from cycle to cycle
  • UniIdlerTM cable exit allows 270° displacement cable flexibility
  • Choice of 3 easy device installation methods: cam locks, mounting plate, or saddle clamp

The Series C position transducers contain the same technology and design features used on the company's proven space vehicle and high-performance aircraft displacement sensors. Installation generally takes less than 1 minute. The products weigh less than 20 oz. (567 g) and can withstand 100g/15g shock/vibration environments. Analog or digital outputs are available. Operating temperature is from -40° to +85° C (analog) and -10° to +85° C (digital) or better. Standard environmental protection is to IP 66 / NEMA 4 with IP 67 / NEMA 6 available. Custom configurations and signal conditioning are available. Operating lifetime is in excess of 5,000,000 shaft revolutions.

The product is available immediately direct from the factory (https://spaceagecontrol.com/reqorder.htm) or via a network of representatives (https://spaceagecontrol.com/reps.htm).
